Terms of Service
Draft for review · last updated August 2026
1. Who we are
TruliLocal [legal entity name and form] ("TruliLocal", "we", "us") operates a marketplace connecting people who need home-services help ("Customers") with independent local service providers ("Pros"). These Terms govern your use of our apps and website (the "Services"). By using the Services you agree to them.
2. The marketplace
TruliLocal is a venue. Pros are independent contractors — not our employees, agents, or subcontractors — and they alone are responsible for the work they perform, including their tools, licensing, insurance, and taxes. We facilitate matching, quoting, scheduling, messaging, and payment, but the agreement to perform a given job is between the Customer and the Pro. We are not a party to it.
3. Accounts and eligibility
You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract. You're responsible for the accuracy of your information and for activity under your account. We sign you in with one-time codes sent to your email, so keep access to that inbox secure. One account can act both as a Customer ("Hiring") and as a Pro ("Working"). During the pilot, Pros join by invitation and we may pause or remove a Pro's access at our discretion.
4. Quotes and booking
Pros set their own prices. A quote names a flat price and an arrival window drawn from the times you offered. When you accept a quote, that price plus the service fee shown to you before you confirm becomes the booking price.
5. Payment
Nothing is charged when you book. You save a card at booking and we verify it with your bank; no funds are held or taken at that point.
Your card is charged when the work is finished and you approve it — or automatically after the approval window shown in the app if you take no action, so a Pro isn't left waiting. We pay the Pro out after that, less the service fee.
If a Pro proposes additional work mid-job, the extra amount applies only if you approve it in the app first. If you open a dispute within the window shown after completion, we hold the Pro's payout while we look into it, and may refund you in whole or in part.
You can cancel free of charge until the Pro sets out. Once a Pro has started work, cancellation runs through support rather than a button, so the work actually done can be accounted for. [Confirm cancellation-fee policy with counsel before launch.]
6. Fees
We add a service fee to the Pro's price, shown to you before you confirm. The current pilot rate is displayed at checkout and on your receipt. We may change our fees, but never for a booking you have already made.
7. Vetting — what we do and don't promise
We review every Pro before activating them, and we may show a badge on Pros who have cleared additional checks. We do not, and cannot, guarantee the quality, safety, legality, or outcome of any job, or that a Pro's description of themselves is accurate. Use your own judgment, and tell us if something is wrong. [Confirm the exact screening performed, and word the badge to match it.]
8. Conduct
Use the Services lawfully and respectfully: give safe access for the work, communicate through the app, and don't harass anyone or misrepresent who you are or what you can do. Arranging payment off-platform for a job you found here removes the protections on both sides — the payment guarantee for Pros, the dispute process for Customers — and may end your access.
9. Reviews and ratings
Reviews must reflect genuine, completed jobs. Customers review Pros publicly. Pros rate Customers privately; those ratings are shown only to other Pros, in aggregate. Neither side can see the other's rating for a job until both have submitted or the blind period ends. We may remove content that is fraudulent, unlawful, or breaches these Terms.
10. Your content
You keep ownership of the photos and text you submit. You give us permission to host and display them as the Services require — showing your job photos to the Pros invited to quote on it, and your review on that Pro's profile. Pros give us permission to show photos of completed work to that job's Customer, and in their own portfolio.
11. Disclaimers and liability
The Services are provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, TruliLocal is not liable for the acts or omissions of Customers or Pros, and our aggregate liability for any claim relating to a job is limited to the amounts paid through the platform for that job. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, and disputes will be resolved in the courts located in [county], Colorado. [Confirm whether to include an arbitration clause and class-action waiver — a decision for counsel.]
13. Changes
We may update these Terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be posted here with a new date and communicated in the app or by email. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
